The Mission of the Summer Bridge Program
This eight-week summer intensive curriculum will enable prospective students to begin their university career early. They will discover what skills and behaviors students need to be successful in the university setting – and to begin developing those skills. Earning course credit for Academic Writing (Writing 01) or Pre-Calculus (Math 05) allows Summer Bridge students to enter their fall semester with a head start on earning graduation credits.
Additionally, the Summer Bridge Program offers:
- Small class size (max of 20 in Math and 15 in Writing)
- Close, supporting ties among students and instructors that last beyond summer
- Personalized advising and counseling
- Introduction to campus resources
- Early registration for fall 2013 courses
- Transition to university social and intellectual life
- Development of mentoring relationships with current upperclassmen
