Program Requirements

Participation in the UC Merced Summer Bridge First Year Program is by invitation only. Invited students will receive invitations in May. If you were not invited to the program, you can still submit your interest to be notified if spots become available by submitting the Summer Bridge Application.

Requirements:

  • Receive an invitation to participate in the Summer Bridge First Year Program.

  • Be an incoming first year student.

  • Have at least one of the following requirements outstanding (based on a review of reported scores and transfer work): Math 005 (Pre-Calculus) or WRI 001 (Entry-Level Writing Requirement)

  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) and confirm that the UC Merced school code (041271) is listed. Please note: If you submitted a FAFSA or CADAA for the current academic year, you must submit one for the previous academic year.

Students who submit their financial aid application and required documents by program deadlines will have their program costs, room and board, and course materials covered by a combination of financial aid, foundation support, and UC Merced's Student Success Initiative. In addition to these costs, students may need funds to cover personal expenses and transportation costs, which can be covered by additional financial aid awards or personal funds.

  • Agree to live in on-campus housing for the duration of the Summer Bridge On-Campus Experience.

  • Submit all required Admissions documents and meet your Conditions of Admission (more information to come).

  • All Summer Bridge participants will be enrolled in units during the eight-week Summer Session (B).

  • Participate in mandatory student success activities.
